Video ProductionThis project is inspired by Wei-Jing Lee's book The Necessity of Old-Fashioned Dates, which reminds us of the simplicity and authenticity of connections in times past.
When did we forget how to talk for hours on a landline? When did text messages replace handwritten letters? And how did emojis come to express all our emotions? This is the story of a shy girl in Shanghai who prefers communicating with her penpal the old-fashioned way—through letters. Meanwhile, her friend, living on the other side of the world, is eager to connect through a more modern method—by telephone. To bridge the gap between their desires, an unique installation was created.
本作品靈感來自李維菁的著作《老派約會之必要》，它提醒我們過去人與人之間連結的單純與真誠。
我們是從什麼時候開始，忘了如何在市內電話上聊上幾個小時？從什麼時候開始，簡訊取代了手寫信？又是怎麼回事，表情符號竟能代表我們所有的情緒？
這是一個關於生活在上海、害羞女孩的故事。她偏好以老派的方式與筆友通信——透過手寫信。而遠在世界另一端的朋友，則渴望用更現代的方式——電話——來拉近彼此的距離。為了彌補兩人間對溝通方式的不同渴望，一件獨特的裝置作品因而誕生。
